Moving Forward into 2013

We survived the hype around the December 2012 solstice and life continues on as always. Are you surprised? Did you really expect things would change significantly overnight? Even if we can’t see obvious signs of changes there is no denying that a major transformation is occurring worldwide. This is an inner transformation, and is a gradual, and often, intense process.

President Evo Morales of Bolivia, in a speech to the UN in September 2012 is quoted as saying:

“…according to the Mayan Calendar the 21st December marks the end of the non-time and the beginning of time. It is the end of the Macha and the beginning of the Pacha. It is the end of selfishness and the beginning of brotherhood. It is the end of individualism and the beginning of collectivism… the end of hatred and the beginning of love. The end of lies and the beginning of truth. It is the end of sadness and the beginning of joy. It is the end of division and the beginning of unity….”

What a beautiful description of the transformation process. Are you able to visualize just how this change is going to manifest? Or, how the inner changes you are experiencing are contributing to the conscious collective’s transformation?

There is no doubt that 2012 was an intense year for practically everyone. Challenges include finances, relationships, family, friendships, self worth, along with added grief as a large number of souls chose 2012 as the time to transition from the Earth plane.

In numerology 2012 is a “5” year, which denotes ‘Change’. The coming year, 2013, is a “6” year and will bring with it some challenges but overall should be more steady. According to Ellin Dodge:

“2013…The year of the “Cosmic Parent” when the universe aims to find domestic balance, harmony and comfort.  Blue is the Universal color. In general, the focus in every country around the world is inward and on a stronger sense of responsibility…family values, domestic changes, educational and health reforms and advances –  lots of weddings – food products, home products, community politics, civic improvements and the housing market returns. The music industry surges forward.  Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart and home improvement and home decorating businesses break all records.  All children born in 2013 will live “The Wisdom Cycle”…their last cycle of life, in comfort, surrounded by loving families.

Challenging problems arise from unwillingness to make adjustments, stubbornness, unyielding ideals and self-righteousness.  The new ideas begin in April and rise up in June.  February and November bring focuses on actively solving problems, money, big business and bring January and October underlying problems to a head…Universally, it’s all about taking responsibility, fulfilling obligations, nurturing our families and improving our immediate neighborhood in 2013.”

Basically I see that we all have responsibility – individually and collectively – to transform our reality. It’s our duty and obligation – for the sake of our children and grandchildren – to clean up the environmental messes created worldwide;  to rid our world of toxins that are creating illness and disease;  to create an environment that is conducive to healthy learning and joyful participation in all aspects of life;  to create a stronger, vital sense of community and self-sustainability;  to foster unity and oneness;  and to nurture the brilliance and gifts that our young children bring with them into this lifetime.

The younger generation is the one that holds the responsibility for bringing Earth back into balance, this is what they have incarnated for. Whatever steps we take to support their growth and awareness will definitely speed up the process of inner transformation, and will ultimately be manifested in our shared co-created reality.

As we move into 2013 let’s all aspire – in whatever ways feel appropriate – to transform aspects of our reality that no longer are in harmony with the essence that is within. It’s time to become more proactive in determining our true purpose and then living that purpose/meaning for being here to the utmost of our abilities.
If you are uncertain about becoming more proactive then this youtube video may be just the inspiration you are seeking.
The journey post-Mayan Calendar has commenced. The journey will take us wherever we choose to go. Let’s choose wisely and with foresight!

Ease and Grace – a Possibility or Illusion?

The thought of a life of ease and grace holds great appeal, especially when stress, conflict and challenges continually surface. New Age and spiritual teachings have certainly taught us that it is possible to live in a state of bliss, and this is certainly worth aspiring to. Yet, given the nature of the reality we have co-created within our communities, nationally and globally how is it really possible to attain even a state of ease, much less inner peace?

A common theme expressed by clients is the desire to live with less stress, more freedom and greater joy. However, when it comes to seriously giving consideration to basic lifestyle needs it becomes challenging to contemplate making changes that will enhance the quality of life.

It seems – from my observations over many years – that countless individuals are now at a ‘crunch’ time in their lives. Employment, finances, relationships, friendships and family issues are in some way impeding free will and also creating significant stress. The desire for change is great though may seem impossible to create, adding further fuel to feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction.

The conundrum is self-evident. The yearning for improvement in lifestyle and relationships intensifies while the feeling of being caught up in a never-ending cycle of life circumstances prevents real and positive change from occurring. How is it possible to commence the change process? What is needed to begin the journey into living with greater ease and grace?

There are a number of recommendations I suggest as being worthwhile. They include:

  • stop the pattern of continual thinking. This, while it sounds impossible, is actually the first step to creating a new, improved reality. While channeling Edgar Cayce he strongly recommended using breath work as a mechanism for bringing attention into the now moment. When doing this the constant mental gymnastics that create inner conflict ceases and brings about a feeling of distance from the challenges, resulting in increased clarity around concerns and issues;
  • ensure that daily gratitude practice is undertaken. This practice is expressed in the present tense, never as a future outcome. Gratitude practice is a powerful tool for manifesting change;
  • spend time in nature and sunshine. Taking time out from the demands of life offers an opportunity to shift perspective, clear the mind and refresh the spirit;
  • let go of the need to be responsible for everyone else. Allow others the opportunity to grow and learn as they take on the reins of responsibility for their life. This allows you to enjoy the beauty that exists in your reality and which you may have lost sight of;
  • meditate daily. There are many forms of meditation, find one that resonates and use this time to rejuvenate yourself;
  • believe in your ability to create the desired changes; and
  • take regular small steps in making change. As you change your thinking everything changes. As you let go of attachments you free yourself to experience greater joy. As you engage in creative pursuits you then find creative solutions to life’s concerns.

There is only the now moment. It is yours to use wisely or to squander. Over time there have been many profound teachings and words of wisdom to provide guidance. I feel this statement, by the famous ‘Unknown’ provides a sound basis for reflection:  “If you are depressed you are living in the past; if you are anxious you are living in the future; if you are at peace you are living in the moment.”

Start now and you will find that many small changes add up. Over time you will feel improvement in thinking and feelings, ultimately resulting in a life of greater ease and grace.

Riding the Waves of Change

Holiday season is a time for spending quality moments with family and friends, and reflecting on the important things in life. It also happens to be one of the most stressful times of the year.

Currently we are experiencing some incredibly intense energies as our planet and solar system are moving further into the photon belt. This phenomenon occurs every twenty-four to twenty-six thousand years (depending on which school of thought you follow). When this happens there is a significant shift in vibration, shifting everything into much higher frequencies.

While this is something that can be discussed academically, and which we may think really doesn’t impact us greatly, the truth is that we have been impacted and affected by these changes for some years. The intensity of these energetic changes, however, has dramatically increased in recent months.

Currently stress, tension and anxiety seem to be highly prevalent in our society. It’s easy to lay the blame for this occurrence on our economic climate, erratic weather conditions, poor crop harvests and on declining employment opportunities. These, however, are merely indicators of the significant shift that is occurring.

As the intensity of the higher energetic frequencies impact our physical bodies we find ourselves in a state of dissatisfaction and flux. Some of the indicators that are evident within society include:  relationships ending;  family dissension;  employment dissatisfaction;  friendship dissolution;  change of residence/locality;  and increasing suicides.

While the above factors may all be viewed as potential disasters they in fact indicate that on a deep level there is significant inner change occurring. Anything and everything that is of a lower vibration cannot – and will not – survive and flourish in the higher frequencies.

This means that lower frequency energies that once held relationships together no longer do so, employment situations that are detrimental to one’s highest good will change, etc.

The process of shifting from the lower frequency into the higher frequency vibrations is not without its challenges. There is often great mental and emotional pain. At times there is physical manifestation, in terms of illness conditions.

So, how can we best ride the waves of change with minimum impact on our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing?

There are no hard and fast guidelines. Each person is unique and has a unique biochemistry. What may work beautifully for one individual may have no impact on another’s state of wellbeing.

Some suggestions that may provide assistance in coping with the intense stress and anxiety that is occurring at the moment include:

1.  Begin each day with a heartfelt expression of gratitude. This may relate to some particular aspect of your life, or it may be more general.

2.  Undertake daily recreation and relaxation activity – this may include walking, gardening, swimming, meditation, yoga, tai chi, etc. Anything and everything that helps lower stress levels. This does not include competitive activities!

3.  When a challenging situation arises over which you have absolutely no control, remind yourself gently, “This too shall pass”. A very powerful statement that assists in letting go of attachment and expectation.

4.  Deal with issues as they arise, instead of putting them to one side and worrying needlessly.

5.  Avoid stimulants and activities that induce a ‘flight or fight’ response in your body. This may mean no longer watching drama or action television last thing at night – but you will sleep so much better!

6.  Remove all electrical appliances from your bedroom and sleep in the dark – your body will heal as you sleep without the interference from ‘dirty electricity’ emitted by appliances.

7.  When a situation arises ask yourself, “Is this my problem?” If it is then deal with it. If it’s not then allow the person responsible to handle the issue/s.

8.  Let go of the need to control and learn to Trust.

9.  Worry less and laugh more.

10.  Take time daily to be in nature. Smell the roses, hug a tree and allow your body to enjoy and absorb the sun’s healing rays.

I am sure there are many other practical and helpful suggestions to reduce the stress of the changing times. It’s up to you to find the methods of letting go and relaxing that work for you – and when you do, then stick with those methods.

If you have other suggestions I welcome them. Just share your comments for others to read and adopt! We are all in this together, and the more we support one another and develop a sense of community the less stressful the whole process of shifting into the new and higher frequencies will be.

Taking a Positive Spin….

In the past few days the northeast of the United States has been pounded by intense weather patterns – referred to as a ‘super storm’. The damage is extensive and the cleaning up process will most likely continue for weeks, if not months!

However, is what has happened really a disaster? Or, does it offer an opportunity for change? It’s a well researched fact that individuals facing a health challenge respond better to treatment when there’s a positive and determined attitude to the healing process. So, I have to ask the question:  ‘how does the psychology of positive thinking apply in situations such as natural disasters’?

It is all too easy to dwell on the extent of the damage that’s occurred and to take a defeatist or negative attitude to the whole situation.  Yet, I don’t for a moment believe that the majority of individuals affected are feeling negative or angry. In such situations most individuals accept what has occurred and then do what needs to be done to rectify the damage that has occurred.

I believe that super storm Sandy is definitely a catalyst for creating tolerance, a sense of community and instituting forward planning.  It is no coincidence that this event occurred a week before the presidential election and also at the beginning of the holiday season – Halloween seems to be the starting point of celebrations and social gatherings in the States.

So, how is it possible to take a positive outlook on the devastation that’s occurred? These are some of the points that I’ve considered, and I’m sure you’ll also have some to add! No list is ever exhaustive.

1.  It shifts our focus to humanitarian issues relating to survival and basic needs/comforts.

2. It places the presidential race on a lower level in our consciousness (for many people anyway). We are afforded an opportunity to reassess our priorities.

3.  Nature has an amazing cleansing action. I wonder how many negative and stagnant energies have been swept away?

4. Rebuilding efforts are likely to reduce the unemployment numbers in our communities.

5. Once again we have an opportunity to create community – as all catastrophes provide!

6. It shifts the focus from ‘me/I’ to ‘we’. A powerful reminder that we are all One.

7. We are reminded of our own powers, as this is an opportunity for prayer, meditation and sending healing.

And…… you add your insights to this list!

As a dear friend said many years ago, ‘You can choose to be happy or sad. It’s not possible to be both at the same time. You choose!’ That statement applies as much to daily affairs as it does to natural disasters.

Life is about having ‘Experiences’

I was privileged to channel the energy of Edgar Cayce to audiences in the northeast USA for about three years. During this time many questions relating to health, career, life purpose, and other core issues were asked by individuals. In one gathering, Cayce was asked about an incident experienced by an individual and the lesson to which that incident related.

His response began with, “Why does there have to be a lesson? It is because of the teachings of the churches…. Unfortunately, from where I sit now I’m able to see a bigger picture. I see control and power by those who lay down the law as to how things are. When it comes to lessons, that’s not what life is about. Lessons are a man-made concept.”

From an early age we are reminded by parents, teachers, and others in positions of authority that we have lessons to learn, and if we haven’t learned particular lessons then we are at fault. We are reminded continually, and often lovingly, that we are not doing enough or that we have to try harder. As a culture we have become inculcated into believing that somehow life is about lessons. The harder we apply ourselves the greater the likelihood of success. The yardstick of measurement is constantly at work. Will we pass or is it likely that another failure is in store? Are we going to disappoint our superiors, parents, teachers, once again?

Edgar Cayce mentioned the teachings of the churches. How often are we reminded that “man is born into sin,” or that “we are born into suffering.” It does not matter whether one is of the Roman Catholic or Buddhist faiths, the message is the same. We are not good enough; we are flawed, inadequate and, in order to overcome these characteristics, we must make atonement throughout life. Continual striving and self-judgment become normalized within the psyche as a result.

Am I the only one who questions the concept of life being a series of “lessons” that need to be learned? Sometimes I feel as though we have become so heavily entrenched in this belief system that we have lost sight of our real purpose for having the human experience.

Ask yourself if you have learned a particular lesson? Then as you do this, take note of how you feel inside. Every time you feel you have not mastered yet another of the countless lessons that life has a way of throwing in your direction you add to the accumulated feelings of inadequacy, lack, and unworthiness.

Lessons are a reminder of school. If you pass you receive approval, breathe a sigh of relief, and brace yourself for the next lesson to be mastered. If you fail – and failure tends to be more common than success – then it merely adds to the inner feelings of confusion, resulting in additional feelings of futility.

Life is not a school. School is a man-made concept that keeps you from attaining your true purpose and understanding. It prevents you from living your life to its fullest potential due to the fear-induced lessons and initiations you are continually reminded that exist.

There is, instead, a liberating and powerful alternative way of perceiving and experiencing life. Not as a series of lessons to be mastered but as an amazing journey of self-discovery and realization.

Edgar Cayce, in a private communication, shared that the soul embodies in order to have experiences. Through these experiences, awareness and understanding develop. As a result, the soul evolves to higher levels of consciousness. Isn’t this a much gentler way of viewing and experiencing the journey of life in all its challenges?

Even the countless spiritual and New Age teachers who are proliferating their messages of inspiration and meaning continue to espouse the concept of “lessons.” Unfortunately, they too are a product of their conditioning, and all too often are not prone to deeply questioning the religious “truths” that have been promulgated.

As Einstein is quoted as saying, “The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”

If we are to experience a true paradigm shift, we have no choice but to question deeply all accepted beliefs and doctrines. Where teachings and beliefs result in individuals feeling inadequate, inferior, or inept then they lack merit. Our soul purpose is to evolve, and soul evolvement can only be achieved in the highest vibrations with best intentions that highlight our inherent goodness and value.

Life’s Challenges – What do they Mean?

Does your world feel as though it’s spinning out of control? Is there more happening, and demanding your attention, than you are able to focus on?

This seems to be the main ‘theme’ I’m encountering in my line of work lately. It feels like we are in a real time crunch. So many demands competing for attention, yet not enough time to deal with them all.

The issues I observe happening relate to career/work, family, financial security, health, personal relationships and friendships. It could be argued that these are ‘normal’ issues, that these are concerns we all are confronted by at some stage in life.

What I’m seeing, however, is that there is a multiplicity of concerns and issues all happening simultaneously. The resultant outcome is one of feeling totally overwhelmed, possibly with intense feelings of stress and even anxiety being the result.

Most of our concerns relate to mental functioning. Thought processes become convoluted as we endeavor to ‘work out’ solutions. Our minds become engrossed in engineering possible outcomes based upon the situations we perceive are happening.

Let’s face it. Most of our issues and concerns are all in the mind! We create the scenarios and the many possible permutations through our thought processing. In many instances whole dynamics are created in our minds. These dynamics are energy and over time they actually begin to manifest in various ways.

What would happen if we stopped thinking about our problems? What would be the resultant outcomes if we weren’t continually mentally creating different mechanisms for their resolution?

I find it really interesting to observe individuals who have the awareness that many of the issues they experience are really no more than a creation of the mind. Once the mental reasoning and logic are ceased the individual then realizes there’s a huge reduction in stress, and then events begin to unfold with less effort.

Yes, that’s right! Once the process of letting go of the stress and anxiety occurs then there is greater ease and comfort in outcomes. Life actually becomes easier, and it feels like there is an effortless flow in all areas. Then, once the thinking re-commences there is a vice-like grip as stress once again emerges.

I’m convinced that now, more than ever, it’s vitally important to get out of our own way and to allow the flow of life to be what it is. This means that when challenges occur they are dealt with expediently and in the best possible manner – without lengthy and undue worrying. It also means that we are then able to appreciate much more of the reality we have co-created.

This then results in more time being available to be in appreciation and gratitude. After all, when we are no longer busy worrying we will have every opportunity to truly appreciate the many blessings we have in our lives.

Initially it may be difficult to find the blessings, but I’m sure that with a little observation and lots of positive feelings those blessings will become abundantly apparent. Once that happens then there is no going back to a stress and anxiety-filled life!
